ABOUT takara
My name is Takara, and I'm a founder, communications and narrative strategist, and media and culture researcher. For the past five years, I've run my own business full-time, supporting organizations, creatives, companies, and leaders in bringing their work to life. That work spans advocacy communications, narrative strategy, and author publicity, and it's rooted in a belief I come back to again and again: the right story, told the right way, changes things.
I also lead a nonprofit I founded focused on media, narrative, and culture research, because apparently, I don't know how to have just one thing going on. I spend a lot of time thinking about the way storytelling and the constantly shifting media landscapes shape communities and public discourse, and even more time turning those thoughts into something useful for the people I work with.
At the end of 2025, I had a realization: as much as I love helping clients build their worlds through communications and narrative strategy, I had a world of my own waiting to be built. That's how Cashmere & Collard Greens came to be. It's a space where I write about style, beauty, culture, connection, and the stories that make us, us. Currently, this space primarily lives on Substack, where I write weekly articles, have my seasonal syllabus series, and my monthly newsletter.
Building this space
I have a battery in my back to reach my goals. I've now surpassed my initial 1,000 subscriber goal, and while it's not just about numbers, it's about proving to myself that my own creativity is worth the strategy, vision, and fight to materialize it into something meaningful.
